Position Statement: Anesthesia Human Resources

We're taking a stance on anesthesia's human resource challenges.

Human resources are one of the biggest issues facing health care, including within the field of anesthesiology. As Ontario’s experts in anesthesia, we felt it was important that Ontario’s Anesthesiologists formalized our position on this topic. Our Anesthesia Health Human Resources Working Group developed the Anesthesia Human Resources position statement further below.

The statement highlights three solutions that can help alleviate some of the pressures facing our specialty:

• Data-driven workforce planning 

• Anesthesia care led by physicians 

• Greater investment in anesthesia care teams
