Call for Nominations

The Ontario’s Anesthesiologists Resident Subcommittee is proud to introduce the Ontario’s Anesthesiologists Resident Award. 

This is an opportunity to recognize anesthesia residents in Ontario for their outstanding contributions to education, leadership, and advocacy within the field of anesthesiology and beyond. Award recipients will receive an award, a $100 gift card, and free registration to the Ontario Anesthesia Meeting (OAM) of the same year. 

Nomination Process

Nominate a deserving colleague by doing the following:

  • Consider a resident in anesthesiology who meets the judging criteria listed above.

  • Submit a nomination by writing a letter (500-word maximum) highlighting why your nominee is deserving of this award and how their work/achievements meet the criteria. 

  • Complete the nomination form below or send your nomination letter to info@ontariosanesthesiologists.ca

The award will be presented during the annual Transition-to-Practice virtual event. However, the award may be given to the recipient in advance to facilitate their participation in the OAM.

Eligibility

  • Nominees must be a resident currently training in Ontario

  • Nominees must be a member of the Ontario Medical Association

  • Nominations may be made by individual residents or groups of residents, university professors or teaching faculties, program directors, or staff attendings. 

  • Nominations rejected by the Resident Subcommittee will stand for the following year and may be reconsidered at a subsequent meeting.

Criteria

The Ontario’s Anesthesiologists Resident Subcommittee will review nominations for the award and select a recipient based on which candidate best meets the following leadership criteria:

  • Leads by example, and is looked up to as a respected leader by their peers.

  • Represents the interests of anesthesiology residents within their program and beyond. 

  • Contributes to the betterment of their program and the residency experience by working to foster a positive learning environment and providing mentorship to junior learners. 

  • Identifies potential for improvement and acts as a catalyst to drive change.

  • Inspires their peers within the contexts of leadership, advocacy, or teaching. 

  • Exemplifies professionalism, collaboration, and integrity through interactions with patients, staff, and peers.
